GIC SPORTS CLUB & GIC EVENT
Goon International College (GIC) holds greater responsibility for organizing physical activities and other events for their students. Various student clubs have been formed to organize the events and spark more engagement from all the stakeholders. So far, we have held a futsal tournament, a badminton competition, an explore race for newly enrolled students, and an event seminar since campus reopened post the pandemic break. The Student Affairs department is actively planning for many more upcoming events with the aim of creating more opportunities for student participation. We also aimed to expand our range of GIC sports and events by being open to more collaboration with external parties such as other educational institutions, corporates and NGOs in order to maximize the benefits.
EVENTS & SPORTS
At GIC, our Events are open for all students and staffs. Till date, we have various sports and events that held in GIC. The Events in the college are given purpose to inculcate the value of soft skills, communications skills and among undergraduates whilst allowing them to compete at the college level. The encouragement and involvement in the organized physical fitness programs and tournaments participated by the students are for them to value the importance of fitness in life and to have fun in the activities they participated in. Building Interpersonal Skills
Being involved in sports teaches students various interpersonal skills such as patience, communication, leadership, punctuality, accountability, and teamwork that will help them not only to win a particular sports competition but also grow and achieve success in life. Besides effective communication, these interactions help students become multi-taskers as they start to realise the importance of striking a balance between work and personal life. While playing a sport, students come across various situations that require quick decision-making. Encountering such situations not only makes students proactive but also makes them good decision-makers. Sports not only help to shape a student’s personality, but they also have a substantial impact on their academic success. Sport teaches students time management skills and also serves as a stress reliever when they are overburdened with coursework and deadlines. To maintain healthy mental health, students must take a break from their everyday routine. Students’ ability to think, study, focus, and contribute to academics is enhanced by such beneficial breaks.

It is critical to be mentally and physically fit. Students can improve their mental health and learn to balance their scholastic and extracurricular commitments by taking up athletics as a pastime. GIC is striving to provide holistic growth for our students; therefore, in addition to superb facilities, we have dedicated student support programmes that promote students’ mental well-being.
Potential Career Options
For many students, investing time in something they enjoy that can eventually become a passion and possibly a job is a dream come true. Participating in sports during their college years allows individuals to develop their interests and skills. It’s possible that a particular sport will attract student’s interests to the point where they decide to pursue it as a career. The sports sector is booming in today’s world and is predicted to continue to do so in the next few years. Sports as a profession is difficult. However, if pupils are enthusiastic about it, it can lead to a bright future.
