TURGAASHINI ISVARAN
LECTURER
Bachelor in Early Childhood Education (BECE-Hons)
Turgaashini Isvaran currently serves as a lecturer in the Department of Academy at Goon International College (GIC) in Kuala Lumpur. As a passionate Early Childhood Educator, she has committed herself to shaping and nurturing the minds of young learners. With extensive hands-on experience, including working in a play-based environment for children aged 4-6 and as a homeroom teacher for elementary students aged 7-12, Turgaashini has cultivated a deep understanding of how to engage and inspire young children. Her dedication to both her students and the field of early childhood education (ECE) fuels her desire to create impactful learning experiences and leave a meaningful legacy in the education sector. Turgaashini's educational philosophy is rooted in the belief that the early years of a child's life are some of the most critical for shaping their future development. She views early childhood as a time of immense potential, where children's curiosity, creativity, and foundational skills are nurtured in ways that will impact their entire educational journey. As an educator, Turgaashini is committed to providing a safe and stimulating environment where children feel empowered to explore, learn, and grow at their own pace.
Having worked extensively with young children, particularly in a play-based approach in a playschool setting for children aged 4-6, Turgaashini is a strong advocate for learning through play. She believes that children acquire knowledge best when they are actively engaged in hands-on activities that allow them to explore new ideas in a fun and meaningful way. In her experience, play serves as a powerful tool in developing cognitive, social, and emotional skills. Through various activities, children not only have fun but also gain critical problem-solving abilities, enhance their language development, and learn how to interact with others. Her approach to teaching is holistic, integrating both academic content and personal growth. By creating an environment where children can learn through play, Turgaashini helps them develop essential skills, such as critical thinking, communication, and teamwork, which will serve them throughout their lives. This method fosters a sense of autonomy, encouraging children to take ownership of their learning and discover their unique interests and strengths. Before becoming a lecturer, Turgaashini gained valuable experience working directly with children in different educational settings. Her time at a playschool allowed her to immerse herself in the power of play-based learning. She worked closely with children aged 4-6, developing age-appropriate activities that fostered creativity, curiosity, and social skills. Through structured play and open-ended activities, Turgaashini helped children explore their surroundings, ask questions, and build their understanding of the world.
In addition to her work in early childhood settings, Turgaashini also served as a homeroom teacher for elementary-aged children, ranging from 7 to 12 years old. In this role, she was responsible for creating a supportive and engaging classroom environment that catered to students' academic needs while also emphasizing social and emotional development. She understood the importance of a balanced curriculum, one that encouraged intellectual growth, fostered emotional intelligence, and supported positive social interactions among peers. As a homeroom teacher, Turgaashini not only guided her students through their academic studies but also focused on helping them develop key life skills, such as responsibility, teamwork, and self-awareness. She believes that educating the whole child addressing both their intellectual and emotional needs—is essential for creating well-rounded individuals who are equipped to navigate the challenges of the future. Turgaashini's commitment to Early Childhood Education extends beyond her work in the classroom. She is a passionate advocate for the importance of quality education during a child's formative years and seeks to contribute to the ongoing improvement of the field. She recognizes that the foundation laid in early childhood has long-lasting effects on a child’s future, influencing their academic performance, emotional well-being, and social success throughout life.
