Semester 7 Internship Briefing: Resume Preparation Workshop

Goon International College held a Resume Preparation Workshop and Tips Interview for Semester 7 students to enhance their workplace readiness. Organized into five groups, the workshop was led by Buvanesh Wari A/P Ravi and Geetha Agilan for Groups 1, 2, and 3, and by Nur Atiqah Aliya Binti Ruslan and Amira Faieza Binti Nor Rani for Groups 4 and 5. The session ran from 10 AM to 4 PM, with a five-minute networking session for individual discussions.
The workshop focused on key skills including resume preparation, appointment etiquette, and effective communication with employers. Students completed a Resume Worksheet, reviewed a “Top 10 Resume Mistakes to Avoid” handout, and learned the importance of content over format. Additional handouts, such as “Action Verbs to Strengthen Your Resume,” guided them in describing their experiences effectively.
Participants drafted resumes for specific careers and engaged in career planning by assessing their skills and abilities. The session also covered job-seeking skills, self-assessment, business etiquette, and the importance of strong grammar and composition. The workshop concluded with a draft assignment and peer reviews, allowing students to refine their resumes and better prepare for future job opportunities.
