Dhaka Dental College

Dhaka Dental College is the largest dental educational institution in Bangladesh. It was the first dental college of East Pakistan, established in August, 1961 and it is the only government dental college in Bangladesh with a 200 bed-hospital situated at Mirpur 14, Dhaka. In the year of 1961 Dhaka Dental College started with admission of 6 students at Dhaka Medical College (DMC) . In 1963 College shifted to the roof (2nd floor) of DMCH outpatient building (Its new and own campus) In Feb, 1965 First batch of students qualified as BDS doctors.In the 1987-88 Financial Year aproject had taken by People’s Republic of Bangladesh for new Dhaka Dental College buildings at Mirpur. On the 6th April, 1998,The new building at Mirpur was inaugurated by Our Honorable Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina &create the modern era of Dhaka dental college. In March, 2000 All the Institutional activities started in the new campus at Mirpur. It is recognized as the best dental related educational institution for getting any kind of dental degree in Bangladesh.

Though the college did not have a building of its own at the beginning, Dhaka Dental College and Hospital (DDCH) is now the largest dental educational institution in modern Bangladesh. It was the first dental college of East Pakistan, established in August, 1961 and it is the only government dental college in Bangladesh with 200 bed-hospitals situated at Mirpur 14,Dhaka.Every year after passing H.S.C top applicants from all over the country sit for the medical-dental college entrance examination. The top 100 students get the opportunity to study in Dhaka Dental College. Different batches of Dhaka Dental College are named with the prefix D, as for example batch D-51 which is the latest batch in DDC arena.In order to 4 year B.D.S course (under Dhaka University) M.S. course is included. Under Bangladesh College of Physician and Surgeon (BCPS) FCPS course is also included.

Its mission is to serve people, provide quality treatment, and above all to save people’s lives. It provides education and training for the students and doctors to develop their knowledge and skill.Dhaka dental college has a well-organized administration faculty and Dhaka dental college hospital is the largest dental hospital in Bangladesh with a 7 story building. There are also facilities for various pathological tests, radiotherapy, OPG, general and dental X-ray services. In the library, there are about 13,969 medical and dental books are available and also 122 regular and irregular journals.
