GIC STUDENTS ACTIVITIES
GIC Student Council
The “Majlis Watikah Pelantikan Majlis Perwakilan Pelajar (MPP) Sesi 2023/2024” event held on 8th January 2024 from 4.00 pm to 5.30 pm at Classroom 2, Level 2, GIC, Bangunan Cahaya Suria, organized by the Counselling & Student Affairs Department, was a significant and ceremonious occasion attended by 24 participants (10 male and 14 female students). The event’s objectives of officially inaugurating and recognizing the newly elected members of the Student Representative Council (MPP) for the session 2023/2024, providing a platform for them to take their oath of office and commit to their roles and responsibilities, and symbolically marking the transition to a new chapter in student leadership and governance were successfully achieved. The opening ceremony by Ms. Hidayatul Azyani, Head of Academic, added prestige and solemnity to the event, emphasizing the importance of student leadership within Goon International College. This event not only celebrated the dedication and commitment of the incoming MPP members but also signified a renewed focus on student governance and empowerment within the college community.
GIC Students Convocation
Students Convocation is a formal ceremony during which diplomas are conferred upon students, signifying their fulfillment of the academic prerequisites within their respective programs of study. This pivotal event underscores academic achievement and marks a significant milestone in the educational journey.
GIC Orientation Week
The Registration & Orientation Week held from 16th to 20th October 2023 at Level 13, Goon International College, Bangunan Cahaya Suria, was a resounding success with a total of 60 participants, comprising 36 male and 24 female students. The objectives of welcoming new students, fostering interaction and networking, promoting adherence to college regulations, and providing insights into extracurricular opportunities were achieved through engaging activities and informative sessions. Participants not only felt comfortable in their new academic environment but also formed valuable social connections and gained a deeper understanding of the college’s teaching and learning system. The event concluded with positive feedback from attendees, highlighting its effectiveness in enhancing the college experience for new students.
GIC Let's Talk Series 1
The “Let’s Talk Series 1 – Unlocking Success” event held on 22nd November 2023 from 11.00 am to 1.00 pm at Level 2 (C2-1), Goon International College, Bangunan Cahaya Suria, organized by the Counselling & Student Affairs Department, was a meaningful and impactful session attended by 16 students (1 male and 15 female). The objectives of boosting self-motivation, enhancing self-awareness, understanding oneself scientifically through a psychological approach, and increasing self-confidence were successfully achieved. Through interactive discussions and insightful presentations, participants gained valuable insights into optimizing their personal potential for effective learning and work. The event concluded with positive feedback from attendees, indicating its success in contributing to the personal and academic growth of students at Goon International College.
GIC Culture Activities
The “Deepavali 2023 – The Festival of Lights” event held on 29th November 2023 from 8.30 am to 1.00 pm at Level 12 & Level 13, Goon International College, Bangunan Cahaya Suria, organized by the Counselling & Student Affairs Department, was a resounding success with a total of 139 participants (66 male and 73 female students). The event’s objectives of promoting intercultural integration, fostering mutual appreciation among individuals from different backgrounds, assisting students in discovering their talents, enriching social and communication skills, and enhancing innovative and entrepreneurial skills were achieved beyond expectations. The vibrant celebration of Deepavali not only brought together diverse cultures but also provided a platform for students to showcase their talents and develop crucial skills for their personal and professional growth. The positive feedback and active participation from attendees reflect the event’s impact in creating a harmonious and inclusive community at Goon International College.
GIC "Majlis Rasmi Pembubaran Majlis Perwakilan Pelajar"
The “Majlis Rasmi Pembubaran Majlis Perwakilan Pelajar (MPP) Sesi 2022/2023” event held on 08 December 2023 from 9.00 am to 10.30 am at Moot Court, Level 3, GIC, Bangunan Cahaya Suria, organized by the Counselling & Student Affairs Department, was a significant occasion attended by 16 participants (6 male and 10 female students). The event’s objectives of officially marking the conclusion of the term of the Student Representative Council (MPP) and celebrating its achievements and contributions to the college community were successfully achieved. Through speeches, presentations, and acknowledgments, the event highlighted the dedication and hard work of the MPP members, fostering a sense of appreciation and camaraderie within the college community. The positive atmosphere and meaningful reflections during the event showcased the impact of student leadership and collaboration in enhancing the college experience for all students at GIC.
GIC Counselling Fun Talk
The Counselling Fun Talk (S1) on Self-Care & Self-Love held on 13th December 2023 was a meaningful and impactful session, with 12 participants actively engaging in discussions about self-empowerment, mental and emotional well-being, and effective self-care practices. The event successfully achieved its objectives of raising awareness about the importance of self-care, providing insights into cultivating self-love, and fostering a deeper understanding of mental health issues. Participants gained valuable knowledge and tools to enhance their confidence, productivity, and overall quality of life. This initiative by the Counseling and Student Affairs Unit is a step forward in promoting holistic well-being among students at Goon International College.
GIC Program Celik Kerjaya
The “Program Celik Kerjaya – Siri 1: Mengetahui Minat Kerjaya” held on 31st January 2024 from 11:00 am to 12:30 pm at Level 14 (C14-2), Goon International College, Bangunan Cahaya Suria, organized by the Counseling and Student Affairs Unit, was a valuable and enlightening session attended by 30 participants of GIC students interested in career planning. The event’s objective of delivering a presentation on career interest awareness, providing knowledge on identifying personality and career interests, offering exposure to different career paths, and assisting students in career planning was effectively achieved. Through interactive discussions and informative presentations, students gained insights into their career aspirations and the necessary steps to align their skills and interests with potential career paths. This initiative by the Counseling and Student Affairs Unit serves as a crucial step in guiding students towards informed and fulfilling career choices, enhancing their prospects in the competitive job market.
GIC MPP Let’s Break the Ice Programme
The “MPP Let’s Break the Ice Programme” held on 2nd February 2024 from 8:30 am to 12:00 pm at Level 2 (C2-1), Goon International College, Bangunan Cahaya Suria, organized by the Counselling & Student Affairs Department, was a highly successful and engaging session attended by 21 participants (10 male and 14 female MPP members). The event’s objectives of facilitating introductions, fostering stronger connections among diverse MPP members, promoting teamwork and collaboration, enhancing communication skills, providing a platform for sharing ideas and experiences, and strengthening the sense of belonging within the MPP community were effectively met. Through interactive activities, group discussions, and team-building exercises, MPP members developed mutual support, built trust, and established a cohesive and supportive network. This initiative by the Counseling and Student Affairs Department plays a crucial role in nurturing leadership skills, promoting unity, and fostering a positive and inclusive environment within the MPP community at Goon International College.
GIC Resume Workshop Programme
The Resume Workshop Programme, held both in-person and online on 15th and 23rd February 2024 from 2:15 pm to 4:00 pm, at Level 2 (C2-2), Goon International College, Bangunan Cahaya Suria, and simultaneously through virtual platforms, organized by the Counseling and Student Affairs Unit, proved to be an invaluable resource for students. The workshop aimed to equip participants with essential knowledge, skills, and resources to create compelling resumes that effectively showcase their strengths and enhance their employability. Through interactive sessions and expert guidance, attendees gained valuable insights into resume writing best practices, strategies for highlighting their capabilities, and aligning their resumes with their career goals. The workshop’s success was evident in the engagement of both in-person and online participants, demonstrating the versatility and accessibility of the program in meeting students’ needs across different learning environments. This initiative by the Counseling and Student Affairs Unit plays a crucial role in preparing students for successful entry into the workforce and pursuing rewarding career opportunities, whether in-person or virtually.
GIC Raya Celebration
The Sambutan Hari Raya GIC 2024, held on 19th April from 10:00 am to 3:30 pm at Level 12, Goon International College, Bangunan Cahaya Suria, was a vibrant and culturally enriching celebration attended by over 100 GIC students. The event successfully achieved its objectives of promoting intercultural integration, fostering mutual appreciation among individuals from diverse backgrounds, and assisting students in discovering new talents. Through traditional performances, interactive activities, and a feast of Hari Raya delicacies, participants experienced a sense of unity, camaraderie, and cultural pride. The celebration not only honored the traditions of Hari Raya but also encouraged social and communication skills development, innovative thinking, and entrepreneurial spirit among GIC students. This event exemplified the college’s commitment to diversity, inclusion, and creating a welcoming and festive atmosphere that strengthens bonds within the college community.
